Meeting with the Baltimore Immigration Museum

On March 24, our Executive Director was invited to view the recently opened Baltimore Immigration Museum. She was welcomed by GAHF members Brigitte and Nicolas Fessenden, drivers of this monumental endeavor. The Baltimore Immigration Museum is dedicated to preserving Baltimore’s rich history of immigration as well as educating the public about the different ethnic groups who came to America in the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum itself is located in a historic building used as temporary housing for immigrants before they continued their journey. To learn more, please visit: immigrationbaltimore.org​.

Walking Tour with the German-American Heritage Society of Greater Washington, DC

The German-American Heritage Foundation of the USA® and the German-American Heritage Society of Greater Washington, DC have partnered to bring you a glimpse of Washington’s German-American history. Join GAHS President Steve Hollands on a walking tour of German-American sites in Washington, DC on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. This tour will take attendees through the historical Seventh Street corridor. Some of the highlights include the former Hecht Company and Rathskeller and many historic storefronts.

Historic Zoar Village Traveling Exhibit on Display at the GAHM

The GAHF was thrilled to host the opening reception for the new Historic Zoar Village Traveling Exhibit on Thursday, March 30th. On loan from the Historic Zoar Village and Zoar Community Association, this exhibit commemorates the 200th anniversary of the Historic Zoar Village, Ohio, and shares the story of how German immigrants created one of America’s most successful communal settlements. We are delighted to introduce our new monthly e-newsletter GAHF Club Connect, which compliments our regular e-newsletter and is solely dedicated to highlighting our German-American member clubs and organizations and their activities. Since our establishment 40 years ago, our mission has been to serve as the umbrella organization in the nation’s capital for German-American clubs and organizations across the country.
