Submission Deadline: March 5, 2024 at 5 pm ET

As GAHF and its museum prepare for 2024 and our upcoming 50th anniversary in 2026, we redesigned our newsletter The Ambassador with the goal of turning it into a full-fledged biannual magazine that contains interesting and valuable information for our members, friends, and the 44-million strong German-American community as a whole. Of course, we are also happy to report about events and activities that relate to the Austrian and Swiss-German communities, and this is where we need your help.

Are you a budding or longtime writer? If yes, we want to hear and read from you.

Please take a look at our article submission guidelines and topics of interest.

TOPIC SUGGESTIONS:

  • History and Heritage

This topic area encompasses a broad range that will appeal to everybody from the serious historian to the hobby genealogist. Whether it’s about a famous German-American site, an important American with a German-speaking background, an invention, the experiences of German-American families when their first immigrated or even a curious, but little known fact, this category can accommodate many interests.

  • Travel Tales

This is the place for a report about your favorite destination whether it be in the new or the old world. As long as there is a German connection, we will gladly take a look. High-quality photos make locations come alive, so please send us your best shots.

  • Traditions

Do you keep interesting family traditions with a connection to the German-speaking world alive? Have you ever wondered if the Christmas pickle is really German? (Hint: It’s not or perhaps apocryphal at best.) We want to hear about all of your traditions, no matter how old or young.

  • News from our Partner Organizations

GAHF is a membership organization and we have a network of clubs throughout the country. Please share your activities and events with us! We love to hear from our members. Not a member yet, but interested in becoming one? Please contact us at [email protected]
