Three Zwiefacher are next in the program as an introduction to the audience of this traditional dance and musical form, infrequently heard in the US except among some folk dancers. A Zwiefacher is a dance from Bohemia, Austria, or Bavaria that is a partner dance with a pattern of waltz and pivot (Dreher) steps that differs for each piece of music. For the viewer it is hard to distinguish from a waltz, with the couples turning clockwise and the hands positioned either in the standard dance position or with the shoulder hold. But for the dancers, on the other hand, it is very challenging, requiring each dancer to pay close attention to the musical structure, so they will know whether to take a waltz or pivot step. This attention must continue throughout the dance, for patterns may be intricate.

Four songs at the end of dance evening. The musicians for the dance put down their instruments and join all the dancers in a large circle, holding hands. In Austria, such an evening ends with all singing one of these four songs, selected by the host of the evening.
