Tanz in den Mai

You’re invited to a wonderful evening of food, beer, traditional German May Punch, music, socializing and dancing.

“Veronika, der Lenz ist da” or “Veronica, spring is here” goes a popular song of the 1920s and 30s. Spring has finally arrived, and we invite you to celebrate with us at the GAHM with a traditional Tanz in den Mai. This centuries-old German and Austrian tradition, had its heyday in the 1920s and 30s, but it’s still going strong today. Join us for an entertaining evening with delicious food, Waldmeisterbowle (May punch) and beer, a mix of live and recorded music with a 1930s twist, and the opportunity to dance the evening away with a mix of polka, tango, foxtrot, and even swing and Charleston. If there is enough interest, we can provide a one-hour dance lesson for a small fee the week prior. Period attire from the 1920s and 30s is welcomeand encouraged. This is Great Gatsby with a German twist!
