The film begins with Sissi traveling to Possenhofen Castle with her comical mother and demure sister. While the meaning of the visit is to arrange marriage between Franz Joseph I of Austria to Sissi’s sister, the unknowing Sissi meets Franz Joseph on accident and they eventually fall in love.
