Two months have passed since we temporarily shut our doors following declarations of a public health emergency in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. While some parts of the country are slowly opening up again, Washington, DC’s mayor, Muriel Bowser, last week extended the stay-at-home order for the city and its non-essential businesses through June 8.

While we are closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, let’s stay connected! 

Birthdays and anniversaries are always special occasions. The German-American Heritage Museum in Washington, DC just turned 10 years old. While our premises remain closed to the public until further notice, we have created a special virtual tribute to our history and past exhibits.

Easter as it is celebrated in the United States today has been shaped in many ways over the centuries by traditions brought over from Germany.

Since September 2019, we have been displaying over 50 original works created by German-American artist Fritz Faiss (1905-1981) and dating from the early 1920s through the 1970s. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to purchase a one-of-a-kind and priceless work of art.
