Ron Kosmahl – Director

Personal & Mission Statement

As a former First VP and GAHF Board member, I actively supported fundraising and membership drives, several galas, past Presidents and GAHF operations. I would utilize my contacts through my work in the travel industry and professional services with various German and American companies and organizations as well as the German-American community in support of the GAHF, its Board and the Executive Director to facilitate and develop relationships/partnerships, including with key political, economic, and institutional organizations.

As a German American Business executive, and dual citizen of both Germany and the United States, I have a strong interest in German political, cultural and historical events and developments. My work experience both in Germany and the United States reflects this interest.

My German father immigrated to the USA to work for the DOD, Johnson Administration, NASA and private industry. He was also an active member of the German American National Congress (DANK), and helped me understand the importance to promote a positive image of and about the many contributions German Americans have made to the transatlantic relationship between Germany and the United States.

Having lived in both the USA and Germany and known as a team player and being diplomatic, I have held various management positions at American Airlines, Lufthansa, Omega, and CohnReznick. My background working in the travel industry and professional services would allow me to utilize various contacts to German and American companies/organizations as well as the German American community in support of the GAHF, its Board and the Executive Director by helping to facilitate contacts and develop relationships and  partnerships. This includes organizations such as GABC, the German Historical Institute, RGIT, The US Association of Former Members of Congress, KAF, FNS, FES, Bertelsmann, Hanns Seidel Stiftung, German Embassy, the Goethe Institute, German Military Command of North America and non-for-profits, think tanks, and universities.

Finally, as a German Studies and International relations major, I am passionate about all things German: history, language, and culture and want to help the GAHF channel multiple resources to promote and achieve its core goals! After previously serving both as a board member and First Vice President for the GAFH, I would welcome the opportunity to again help support the important mission it has.
