Personal & Mission Statement
Matthias Weimer was born and raised in Miltenberg, Bavaria, before studying abroad in France, China, and Turkey, graduating with a Master of Science in Chemistry. After working globally for an international corporation, during which he first visited the USA, he eventually settled in Istanbul to start his own business. There, he met his American wife, with whom he moved to Charleston, S.C. in 2017.
They have a son and a daughter and work together to run a jewelry brand and a German coffee alternative business. Matthias recently became a U.S. citizen and is an active member of three German American societies in Charleston, as well as being involved in promoting German American heritage in the city and beyond.
Drawing on his personal experiences and perspective, he aims to promote awareness of German-speaking heritage by strengthening cooperation and networking among existing German American organizations, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and experiences, and empowering them to expand their outreach and impact.
