The German-American Heritage Foundation of the USA and the Embassy of the Principality of Liechtenstein invite you to a reading by author Jonathan Huston. The reading and discussion that will follow will be moderated by Dr. Astrid Weigert, Teaching Professor, Department of German, Georgetown University, following introductory remarks by Kurt Jaeger, Ambassador of Liechtenstein to the US.
Bilingual writer Jonathan Huston will read from his own published and unpublished work, including excerpts from English translations of his collection of German short stories, Mondstaub – Erzählungen
, which was published in March 2016 by the van Eck Verlag in Liechtenstein and presented at the Leipzig Book Fair. The title story of his collection was included in the Best European Fiction 2017
anthology published by Dalkey Archive Press.
Using this year’s Best European Fiction
anthology as a starting point, Jonathan Huston will also speak on the current state of European and especially German-language literature, and he will take a look at problems of literary (self-)translation and different approaches to creative writing in Europe and the United States.
The reading and discussion will be followed by a reception featuring wine from the vineyards of the Prince of Liechtenstein and light hors d’oeuvres. This event is free.
