Our special guest will be Dr. Mark Benbow, Assistant Professor of History and Politics at Marymount University, who will discuss “The Anti-German Panic in Washington, 1917-18.” After the United States entered World War I an anti-German hysteria swept the country and its capital. Concerned citizens submitted reports of suspicious activities, which were explored by the Bureau of Investigation, the FBI’s predecessor. Dr. Benbow will highlight some of these, which ranged from the serious to the ridiculous.
Tickets for this all-inclusive event are $15 for GAHF-members and $20 for non-members. We look forward to seeing you there! RSVP kindly requested.
