RUEDIGER P. LENTZ
Appointed Executive Director
WASHINGTON, DC (October 20, 2009) — We are delighted
to announce that Ruediger Lentz will assume the position of Executive
Director of the German-American Heritage Foundation of the USA®
effective November 1, 2009. In this capacity Mr. Lentz will be
responsible for the day to day operations of the Foundation as
well as the first national German-American Heritage Center of the
USA.
For the last ten (10) years, Mr. Lentz has served
in the position of Bureau Chief and Senior Diplomatic Correspondent
for Deutsche Welle Radio and Television stationed in Washington,
DC. In his capacity as Germany's U.S. international broadcaster
he has managed all journalistic, public policy, marketing and regulatory
affairs.
Prior to his assignment to Washington, DC Ruediger Lentz served
as Bureau Chief of Deutsche Welle Radio in Brussels from March
1992 until December 1998. He represented Deutsche Welle's political,
economic and journalistic interests at all levels of the European
Union institutions, the European Parliament, the European Commission
and NATO. From October 1990 until March 1992 he was Editor-in-chief
of RIAS-TV in Berlin. Early in his career he was also a correspondent
for Der Spiegel, a German News magazine.
He studied political science,
history and economics at the Hamburg University during his tenure
as a career officer in the Federal Armed forces of the Federal
Republic of Germany. Mr. Lentz is a frequent lecturer at Harvard,
Georgetown, UCLA and the Foreign Service institute of the US Department
of State. He is a member of Atlantikbruecke, a German-American
Foundation to enhance transatlantic relations and is Vice President
of the GABC — Washington, DC. He is married and has two daughters.
We
are indeed fortunate to have someone with Ruediger Lentz' broad
background join our organization as we move forward to firmly establish
ourselves in our Nation's Capitol to serve all Americans of German-speaking
ancestry and help us get ready for the Grand Opening on March 20,
2010.
