40 Year Anniversary Campaign

The GAHF was founded in 1977 under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Hans R. Haug of Philadelphia and was established as the United German-American Committee of the USA, Inc. (Vereinigtes Deutsch-Amerikanisches Komitee) the following year. Today, we continue to uphold the vision of our founders: to serve as the national voice for Americans of German-speaking ancestry and their organizations by educating about German-American heritage, engaging with new generations, and continuing to uphold transatlantic relations between the United States and Germany.

We have achieved important milestones as an organization with the help of our many generous supporters and friends. These milestones include the establishment of the German-American Friendship Essay, the proclamation of German-American Day, the creation of the Distinguished German-American of the Year™ award, the opening of the German-American Heritage Museum of the USA™, and our acquisition of a piece of the Berlin Wall, among others.

We wish to thank the generous members and donors who have made this journey possible. We invite you to continue your support as we expand our efforts to engage with and promote German-American clubs, build a database of German-American migration routes through the newly launched German American Heritage Survey, and increase transatlantic partnerships. Your generous gift will enable us to expand our programs, services, and outreach. It will be an investment in the foundation’s next 40 years of preservation and promotion of German-American heritage.

Once again, we thank you for you continued participation and support!
